Amal Kapen is an interior decorator, tastemaker, and design blogger based on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. A former transactional attorney, Amal left the corporate world to follow her passion for interior design. After studying at CW Post, Amal launched her blog, Sybaritic Spaces in 2011 and joined the firm of acclaimed interior designer Meg Braff. Meg Braff is a internationally published designer who owns a design firm, retail store and textile company. While working at the right hand of Meg Braff, Amal honed her skills working in every facet of the design business. As an associate of Meg's, Amal collaborated on numerous, soon to be published projects in New York, Locust Valley, South Hampton, Centre Island, North Carolina and Georgia.
Amal's design sensibility is a modern take on traditional design: Amal loves to mix antique and modern pieces in a way that is stylishly accessible. From snappy, youthful looks to comfortable and timeless interiors, Amal uses her well honed sense of style, color and proportion to develop a comprehensive plan suited to each individual project resulting in a in a warm, comfortable, inviting space that is stylish but not too trendy. Amal believes that each project is unique and should be true both to the home's surroundings and bear a stamp of the client's personality.
