Book Review: Carrier and Company, Positively Chic Interiors

One of the things I love about fall (besides my kiddos going back to school) is all the new design books that hit the shelves.  Carrier and Company: Positively Chic Interiorswas pretty close to the top of my list to review -- if for no other reason that their client, Anna Wintour, had written the forward and that her home was featured within.  This little tidbit sent me pouring over the pages -- but it was not what kept me looking.  The designing duo of Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller showcase their ability to master the mix and to move freely from one design style to another.  Equally at home with modern luxe and with bohemian glamour or Scandinavian country charm, this husband and wife team demonstrate why they are listed on AD100 and Elle Decor's A List (2015).

Mecox Field Trip

On a recent excursion to the Hamptons this summer, my friend and I popped into one of my favorite stores on the East End, Mecox Gardens.  In addition to the main building in South Hampton with all the yummy candles, unique accessories,  great new and vintage furnishings -- Mecox has this shed-like structure that houses all sorts of indoor and outdoor furniture, art and mirrors.  It is a real joy to poke around … Not to mention the staff is always so friendly and helpful.

Mecox always has a great selection of candles and pillows

A Spitzmiller lamp to Jazz things up a bit

Have to get that Valentino Book!

Love this concrete planter with the succulents

Vintage iron garden chairs

The "shed" is filled with furniture and tons of baskets

All kinds of unique outdoor tables abound

Quite a few vintage gazebos mixed with concrete planters, fountains,  seats and statuary makes the grounds  a  nice place to stop and relax.
