Green Glass Hurricanes

I admit that I am a little obsessed with Green. Maybe it was my mother's affinity for green decor that has brought me full circle  -- Regardless of the reason, I am really loving colored glass hurricanes. Meg Braff carries them in her Locust Valley store as does the fabulous Bunny Williams.  They are a perfect gift for the holiday season . . .

Seeing Red: Meg Braff in Southern Living

My favorite decorator Meg Braff appears in Southern Living and Southern Accents this month.    The spread in Southern Living Magazine's 2013 December issue features Meg in her Newport dining room.  It's a great issue and worth picking up if you don't already subscribe (yes, my fellow Northerners, Southern Living is great mag even if you don't live in the South).
Southern Living, December 2013

For those of us who were sad to see Southern Accents shutter their doors, it is on the Newstand for a "Limited Edition Style Guide"; Meg is one of 10 decorators featured along with debonaire decorator Richard Keith Langham.  The issue is a great read with lots of great pics.  One of Meg Braff's Palm Beach projects is featured:

Home is Where the Heart Is Showhouse

A Gold Coast colonial revival home in Glen Cove, New York, played host to recent showhouse: "Home is Where the Heart Is" to benefit The American Heart Association. The 19th Century Georgian style home was built for Standard Oil heiress, Lydia Richardson Pratt and boasts seven bedrooms, 7,000 square feet, park-like grounds and can be yours for $5,500,000 -- click here to see the listing.

The honorary chairwoman for the event was Alexa Hampton and the Design Chair was Kim Hendrick-Radovich of Kim Courtney Interiors; twenty plus designers participated to  transform this home while still preserving much of the original mill work and architectural details.

I toured the house last week and the management could not be more gracious.  I have included some  highlights from the house -- unfortunately not all my photos were presentable and the absence of some rooms is more a reflection of my own lack of photography skills rather than a reflection on any particular room.

Living Room
Here is the  calm and serene living room by the lovely Kate Singer:

The Library
Catherine Brown Paterson Design had one of my favorite accessories in the house, the dolphin serpentine mirror.

First floor Bedroom
Greg Lanza --love the chevon silk klismos chair and Greek key lamps (which he picked up at Meg Braff's store in Locust valley)

First Floor Study.
Henry & Co Design  (Stephanie Woodmansee and Elle Clymer). Great bar.

Sun Porch
The Rinfret Group, also made purchases of art at Meg Braff's shop.
First Floor Bathroom
Love the way they left some of the 1940's bath fixtures like the sink (which, btw, was only 28" high!)

Laundry/Mud  Room
Upstairs Landing

The Master Bedroom
Kim E. Courtney Interiors, headed up by Kim Hendrickson-Radovich, chairperson of the showhouse, designed the Master suite. They also made a stop at Meg Braff's store, scooping up those lovely side tables.

 2nd Floor Bedroom
Boys' Den
Melanie Roy Design

Third Floor Bedroom
The Baltimore Design Group founded by Keith Baltimore designed this mischievous sleep over room on the third floor -- my boy scout son would have loved to camp out up there.
